How it works
The browser transcribes your voice locally. The server receives text, reads your persona context, and calls the VeraTrace AI engine.
Local voice recognition
Transcription runs in your browser via the Web Speech API. No audio file leaves your machine.
Contextual persona snapshot
The server identifies your persona from the dashboard URL, reads your business snapshot and injects it into the prompt as private context.

Security & privacy
The assistant only sees data from your authenticated account.
- Strict authentication: no demo mode, no anonymous access. The `/api/voice-assistant` route requires an active Keycloak session.
- Triple rate-limit: 30 requests / 10 min per email, 200 / 24 h per email, 60 / 10 min per IP.
- No audio transmitted: transcription is done locally by the browser (Web Speech API). The server only sees text, capped at 500 characters.
- Tracking without sensitive content: each call is recorded under HMAC-hashed identity.
Frequently asked questions
Which browsers support voice dictation?
Chrome, Edge, Safari (with a WebKit fallback). Firefox users type their question on the keyboard in the modal.
Can the assistant be wrong or invent information?
The system prompt explicitly forbids the assistant from inventing data absent from the snapshot, and forces it to end each response with 'Indicative response — does not replace professional advice'.
How much does the assistant cost for my company?
Included in the VeraTrace subscription, no surcharge and no contractual cap.
